Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for supporting my work and research! I’ve made these downloadable Kappi Crab Filipino original design sheets to help all of us throughout the vast Filipino diaspora (and anyone else who is interested) find a way to connect with our pre-colonial and modern tattooing traditions. Anyone who purchases this downloadable set will be given a digital copy (jpg) of the set of flash sheets. This set is also accompanied by a sheet that explains the origin and importance of the Kappi Crab symbol.

Any of these sheets can be printed to create your own poster print.

The small fee for this downloadable set will function as a donation to show your support of my work, and if you decide to get a design tattooed, as a way to secure my blessing to have another artist tattoo my work on you. These donations will allow me to continue my research and promote my revival artwork. Maraming Salamat!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TATTOOING:

•all of the tattoos on this sheet are designed to be anywhere between 1-4 inches in height.

•canoe designs are meant to be placed vertically on the body but is ultimately your choice.

•tattoos can be done using machine, handpoked, or handtapped methods. Whichever you and your artist prefer. It’s your choice!

•the artist you choose to do this piece can be your local artist you have a connection with or one you know has a connection with their own culture. You can even choose to seek out a Filipino artist if you wish or anyone who works with cultural tattoos (they always have the right to deny a design if they’re uncomfortable with it of course). With these designs, the important thing to look for is if you trust their work, they make you feel comfortable, and they respect you, your wishes, and the intention behind the designs.

•these tattoos are the equivalent of a ”flash" tattoo. They’re based on the traditional Filipino designs from across the islands and, if tattooed, are meant to be small but meaningful adornments.

•I hope that through these informational sheets, we can have a greater general understanding and respect of the differences and vastness of Filipino tattooing and Austronesian tattooing as a whole.
